It’s the one Freshers’ Week event that you’ll be attending every year. Presented by the St Andrews Charity Fashion Show, Starfields has already garnered significant interest; FIXR reported a demand for 300 Early Bird tickets per second, crashing the app before selling out in under thirty minutes. This unprecedented popularity can be attributed to Starfields’ legacy as St Andrews’ biggest music festival, headlined this year by Klingande, the creator of “Jubel,” described by the committee as “by far the biggest act Starfields has ever had.” Performing alongside Klingande will be Alex Adair, producer of the hit single “Make Me Feel Better” and the DJ behind this remix of “Thinking Out Loud.” The committee has also negotiated a permit to have Starfields run until midnight, in comparison to the previous year’s 10pm.
As the launch event for FS, Starfields aims to raise money and awareness for this year’s charitable partner, SANE. SANE Mental Health Charity has the goal of removing the stigma often associated with mental illness. It provides support, care, and information to all those affected, including family and carers. Through its partnership with SANE, FS promises to “lead the St Andrews community as we take the issue of mental health out of the shadows, and bring it out into the open.” The committee aims to use the influence of FS to shed light on mental health issues and in turn, help support members of our community affected by it.
All things considered, this year’s Starfields looks to be the biggest one yet. With the caliber of the acts and the extended time frame, the lucky attendees will certainly be starting the year off on a high note. Grab a ticket while you still can.
Starfields will take place from 6pm-12am on Thursday, September 10th on Lower College Lawn. Tickets can be purchased exclusively through the FIXR app.
