For St Andrews freshers, navigating our abundance of music events can often seem daunting. Since you can’t be everywhere at once (or afford to be), The Tribe has compiled a “Top 5” of music events everyone will be attending, talking about, and attempting to recall this September.
1. DONT WALK X Ma Bells: The Society Room
Date: September 8th (Ma Bells Tuesday)
Cost: £2 pound entrance
Locale: Hotel Du Vin
The Lowdown: Deemed a night to remember that you will absolutely forget, DON’T WALK and Ma Bells have joined forces for the opening of The Society Room. Expect to mingle with models, sip cocktails and refill your playlists with tunes from the DON’T WALK DJs.
2. Fore to the Floor
Date: September 11th
Cost: [ to be verified]
Locale: 1 Golf Place
The Lowdown: Known for its crowded dance floor, reasonable drinks prices and house music that you won’t hear on the radio, 1 Golf Place never disappoints. Hosted by the organizers of Under Canvas (a music event in the spring), expect a large turnout. Come early.
3. STARFIELDS 2015
Date: September 10th
Cost: LIMITED GENERAL TICKETS AVAILABLE: £39
Locale: Lower College Lawn
The lowdown: Wishing you experienced a music festival this summer (instead of slaving away at your internship)? Don’t fret. STARFIELDS, considered the St Andrews answer to the music festival, predominantly serves up peppy house music. Organized by the St Andrews Charity Fashion Show Committee, the standard is high – and with Klingande as a headliner and Alex Adair as an act, expect music that will “make you feel better” about impending deadlines.
4. SUB 601 X Lightbox X Sitara Present: TV Noise
Date: September 12th
Locale: Club 601 (Opens September 5th)
The Lowdown: For a night of Drum & Bass, Future House and Techno, stop by the newest nightclub in St Andrews. Featuring TV Noise, SAUNIT and Subtronics, this is far from your standard 00’s pop club night. In collaboration with both Sitara and Lightbox, expect a fun atmosphere and beautiful photos.
5. STAR and Music is Love Present: Summer Vibes
Date: September 13th
Locale: St Andrews Botanic Garden
The Lowdown: With smoothies, vegan food, and tunes courtesy of Music is Love, this event will be pure bliss. The perfect end to a busy week.
