And we’re back in the game. September. New start. New Style. And for those of us now involved with The Tribe Online, new responsibility.

 “Welcome to the team.”

Those were the congratulatory words sent to me by Jessica Sarah Rose Cook when I gained this position. Words that in a split second had me elated and suddenly filled with anxiety.

I know why I buy fashion magazines. I know why I love shoes…and bags…and scarves…and jewellery. I know why the words “Good lord, have you seen what he is wearing?” have passed my lips. Certainty. I like certainty.

However, without warning, a feeling of dread washed over me, and now seemed to sit very uncomfortably just above my head like a very low ceiling. This was rooted in my own self-doubt and one grating question: who am I to judge? A valid question I think. Who am I to judge someone else’s work and say yay or nay? Is there really a right or wrong? This has led to much debate not only within myself, but with others (including my boyfriend, who claims to be the only one who actually knows anything about style). I have come to the conclusion that, to a significant degree, style is in fact subjective (although we cannot ignore the universally recognised faux pas. It is a method of expression, so how could it not be?

Taking this into consideration- and aware of all the new faces soon to flood into St Andrews- this issue, The Tribe Fashion has tried to bring something of interest to everyone. From a profile of the fashion acquisition spots in our little town for all the newbies, to interviews with those inside the industry, and features on fashion and your lifestyle, we bring fashion news to your doorstep. Welcome to The Tribe Fashion.
