Blowing Bubbles 03/02/2010

‘For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.’ (Robert Louis Stevenson)

Living in the Bubble can sometimes be, well, stifling and it’s a wonderful to escape knowing that it will be there when you get back.  Student travel is a relatively niche market and many are disparaged by the prices of package holidays or images of faceless 16 years old running about naked clutching a San Miguel.  It is, however, still possible to visit the continent and more without the threat of chav-flu and to explore the globe as you wish, wandering but never lost, and experiencing a real-life adventure on little money.

The travel section aims to inform students of the most exciting opportunities to explore away from the Bubble with St Andrews students sharing their know-how from personal encounters with places throughout the world.  City profiles, bizarre ways and places to travel, literature, photography and a diary of my own migration abroad will make you want to bring out your Ray Mears side, or Bear Grylls if you’re one of those good-looking types.  Remember, travel is just a matter of going…
