Texts From Last Night

“Remember that text you shouldn’t have sent last night? We do.”

It was once said technology brings you gifts with one hand and stabs you in the back with the other.  Science said no. Texters said yes.  So put on your heaviest armor and be weary the next time you press ‘SEND’ on your topped-up phones because Texts From Last Night is alive and kicking! Texts From Last Night (www.textsfromlastnight.com) is a popular website launched last February where readers are invited to post scandalous and shocking texts that they’ve sent or received, usually in the middle of the night while heavily intoxicated.

Depending on what you’d like to read, the site conveniently categorizes the blogs by “Best Nights,” “Worst Nights” and “Random.”   There’s simply no denying the attraction people feel in wanting to read about the racy and regrettable nightly escapades of their peers!  Feeling down on life?  Click on “Worst Nights” and read area code 859’s text (“Well, what part of ‘I've heard she has crabs’ didn't you take into consideration?”) and you’ll be sure to feel better about yourself.

The goal of the site’s founders is to “create a site that was revealing in nature while concealing the identity of everyone involved.”  Hence, users are only required to attach an area code to their submitting texts.

Today, Texts From Last Night receives over four million hits a day. If you’d like to wear a t-shirt with an especially epic text written on the front, you can purchase one on the sites online store!  In fact, the blog has become such a phenomena that the creators recently signed a book deal with Penguin’s Gotham Books.  Texts From Last Night is even headed for television! Fox will be airing a coming of age show, (written by Steve Holland and produced by Sony TV and Happy Madison) focusing on twentysomethings freshly out of college trying to figure out what to do with their lives, and the role texting plays combined with the insanity from last night.

Sure, not all the texts revolve around sex, drugs and alcohol, but these are certainly the highlighted topics.  Although it is debatable whether they are all based on true events, one thing is for sure, they’re addictingly entertaining! Dare to dream someone hasn’t posted one of your texts or a text about you!  As the creators say, “Enjoy your infamy.”

“(563): Your favorite bartender is back from prison….”

“(506): cab driver says - I saw your friend who opens her legs. she went home with two guys.- pretty sure he was talking about you ….”

“(352): redhead is getting on the bull...again red head is getting on the bull!”

”(221): I am far too drunk to be making a tuna melt . There's blood EVERYWHERE.”
