THE STREET: The Opening Ball

GALLERY

October 10, St Salvator’s Quad -

The drinks were consumed, Mr. Hudson performed, and St Andrews students glammed up for a night of countless special moments. The Charity Opening Ball may be over, but what remains is an evening that presented a kaleidoscope of fashion and pizzazz.

The attire across the evening differed - from short cocktail dresses to floor-length gowns, to sharp tuxes and traditional tartan kilts. Everyone worked it and definitely did not hold back on taking fashionable risks.

Overall, the mixture of chic made the night. It was fabulous to see decades of style and colour represented. Everything from vintage black dresses alluding to an aura of Old Hollywood, to bright, retro cocktail dresses that teased the eye with aesthetically pleasing sequins and geometric prints. This variety of style might be thanks to the international flair each student brings to this town. Topshop, Karen Millen, Nordstroms, Lipsy and Coast made up only a fraction of the brands worn on the evening.

The style seen at the Opening Ball has definitely raised the bar for all upcoming formal events this year.
