Writing for The Tribe

The Tribe is an online, independent magazine run solely by students here at the University of St Andrews. We are dedicated to being an honest, unbiased platform for students, teachers, and residents to share their voices and opinions.

There are many opportunities to become involved with the Tribe- from the executive team to becoming a staff writer.

Open Opportunities

  • Staff Writers: Our staff writers position is perfect for writers who wish to become part of The Tribe. As a staff writer, you would be an official member of the subsection of your interest- this gives you the opportunity to see if this section is right for you, or even if The Tribe is right for you. For your section, you will be expected to consistently submit articles to your respective editor each month.  This position is only open to students at the University of St Andrews.

  • Independent Writers: Being an independent writer is perfect for writers who don’t have the ability to fully commit to being an official Tribe Team member, but still wish to have their voice heard by the community. As an independent writer, you may submit as many or as little articles throughout the year. In the past, these writers have been university lecturers writing op-eds on the union strike of 2019, students writing critiques of housing in St Andrews, writing a single review of a fashion show, submitting an art piece, and more. For this position, we are looking for residents of the St Andrews community.

Closed Opportunities: (As of September 1, 2019, these positions have been filled.)

  • Executive Team: Our executive team consists of six members who work behind-the-scenes of The Tribe. We organise fundraisers, build relationships with various St Andrews institutions, and develop the website and social media. Explore our positions here.
